“The Rotarian”, District Conference are April Highlights

Dian Edwards
District Governor 2012-2013

The monthly Rotary Theme for April is our Magazine. Did you know that part of your Rotary International dues include a subscription to The Rotarian? This monthly publication provides every Rotarian in our district with insightful and informative articles that showcase the impact that our service organization is making throughout the world. I encourage each of you to take the time to read and to be inspired by this excellent publication.

April 2013 is also significant for our District 5630 since this is the month when we will highlight many of the service programs and projects at our District Conference to be held in O’Neill on April 26-28. This has been an especially challenging and exciting year for us. We have set lofty goals and worked diligently toward their completion. I hope that you plan to attend and hear progress reports regarding the good work being done by you in all five Avenues of Service.

On April 14, we will welcome our Inbound Group Study Ex-change from Rotary District

4580. This team will travel to Nebraska from Minas Gerais, Brazil which is a district located between Brasilla and Rio de Janeiro. Grand Island Rotarians will welcome the team upon their arrival. The team will spend blocks of time in Broken Bow, Curtis/North Platte, O’Neill, Chadron, and Grant. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for us to collaborate on an international scale toward the promotion of Basic Education and Literacy. The team will make a presentation at our District Conference. Don’t miss it!

My year as District Governor is fast coming to a conclusion. However, I believe that there is still time in the months remaining in my term to lend support to PDG Dave Snow and our other District Rotarians who provide training and support for the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) in District 5630. Dave and I are developing a schedule of additional training opportunities for you and your club members to attend an RLI session. Participation in this program will strengthen the leadership of your club and our district with a corps of more knowledgeable and engaged Rotarians. Learn more about this important program through a visit to our display at the House of Friendship during the District Conference in O’Neill.

I look forward to seeing you in at our Rotary District 5630 Conference in O’Neill on April 26-28, 2013.

In Service of Rotary,

Dian Edwards, District Governor
