Dave is a native of Nebraska and a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University. While a student at NWU Dave was introduced to the YMCA with a part time job working with a youth group. As a result he changed his career plans from teaching to becoming a YMCA Director.
Dave and Connie married in 1965 and worked with the YMCA in St. Louis, MO; Lincoln, NE; Omaha, NE; Columbus, NE; Great Falls, MY; Washington, IA; and Grand Forks, ND over a thirty-five year career. Both Dave and Connie agree the most challenging experience they faced was the 1997 flood in Grand Forks, ND. Dave was rebuilding the YMCA while serving as building chair of their church’s new building committee.
Dave was introduced to Rotary in 1977 and enjoyed membership in six Rotary clubs. He served as Club President in Washington, IA in 1990-91, Grand Forks, ND in 1996-97 and St. Paul in 2003-04. In addition, he has served as newsletter editor, secretary of his club and of the District, Director of RYLA camp and has been chair of numerous Rotary committees.
Dave & Connie have three grown children and six grandchildren. Son Jeff, a drafting supervisor and Liz, a postmaster, live in Inkom, Idaho. Daughter Deb, a flight attendant for Delta, lives in Atlanta, GA. Daughter Vicki and Ken are both brokers for a trucking company in Omaha, NE.
Dave is currently working part-time as the Foundation Director for the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul. He enjoys golf, listening to music and traveling. Connie enjoys volunteering, quilting and reading. Both are active in their church. They are looking forward to traveling and visiting the clubs in District 5630 during 2010-2011.
