Dale grew up on a farm in northeast Nebraska. He attended a country grade school and graduated from Wausa High School. Dale graduated from UNL with a BS degree in Agronomy/ Animal Science.

After college graduation, Dale began a career in agriĀ­business that spanned 43 years. He began his first job in Omaha with a regional cooperative, FarMarCo, inĀ 1972 as a grain merchandiser.

He moved to Hastings in 1977 to manage a grain elevator for the grain division of The Pillsbury Company. In 1985 he started his own grain marketing consulting business in Hastings. In 1990 he merged his business with Brock Associates out of Milwaukee and worked for them a total of 15 years. He worked for Gottsch Cattle Co. in Hastings for 5 yeas as the grain buyer for three cattle feedlots, and his last job prior to retirement was the buyer relations manager for AgWest Commodities of Holdrege.

Dale joined the Hastings Noon Rotary club in 1989, transferred membership to the Hastings Sunrise club in 1998 and served as the Hastings Sunrise club president in 2005/06. He was assistant governor for the two Grand Island and Hastings clubs fromĀ 2008-2012.Ā Ā Dale has served on the District 5630 Vision Facilitation committee. Dale served as District 5630 Grants Chair and Annual Fund Chair from 2013-2016. Dale has gone on two NID (National Immunization Day) trips to India in 2010 and 2013.Ā 

Outside of Rotary, Dale has served on the local TeamMates board for 12 years, served on the Hastings School Board for 4 years, and has served on the Hastings Chamber of Commerce board of directors. He is active in First St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings, having served as church council president, call committee chair and is curĀ­rently the president of the church’s foundation.

Dale and his wife, Kathy, have been married for 46 years. They are both retired and have lived in Hastings sinceĀ· 1977. Kathy taught 7th and 8th grade math when living in Omaha and was the children’s librarian for the Hastings Public Library for 26 years. They have two children, both living in Nebraska, have four grandchildren and spend a lot of time visiting them. Since retirement, they have been traveling both within the US and abroad. They enjoy attending Husker football and basketball games. Dale’s hobbies include model trains and flower gardening.
