Don_PetersonWhat a magical time of the year in Rotary, 537 District Governor Elects from over 200 countries all come together in San Diego for International Assembly in January to hear Rotary International President Elect John Germ announce the new theme “Rotary Serving Humanity”, and to set the focus for the upcoming Rotary year.

We now more than half way through our 2015-2016 Rotary year and the new District Leadership for the next Rotary year is already locked, loaded, and ready to serve humanity! Rotary has been following this successful leadership model for 111 years. What a great organization we all belong to!

High Country Pets in Denver is right around the corner where our President Elects & Nominees embrace the Rotary message and goals for the upcoming year. Pets is not only a great training session for our District Leaders but an unbelievable Rotary experience for all that attend.

As I travel around our District visiting clubs and their community projects it is really heartwarming to see the passion in our Rotary Clubs for making a difference to those who are in need both local and globally. There is not a better place to drop in for a meal and great friendship when you’re traveling through our District than a Rotary Club & attend their meeting as a makeup.

Membership in our District is on the move up with several clubs having a steady increase in new members while also retaining existing members. We had our first District 5630 Membership Cluster Meeting with the clubs of Alliance, Chappell, Kimball, and Sidney on Saturday February 27th. The training consisted of a 3-4-hour training session at a central location with 4-5 members from area clubs attending. The training was facilitated by experienced trainers from our Zone and supported by our District leaders. The session addressed many of the membership issues we face as clubs and promoted the flexibility Rotary has accepted as changes needed to promote growth and the work of Rotary.

District conference in Kearney on April 29th & 30th registration is now open and promises to be an event you won’t want to miss. District conference is a celebration of the service we have done as Rotarians in our Clubs so please come join the fun and make a difference. See you all in Kearney!
