NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – A mentor in North Platte is recognized for his hard work and ability to always inspire the youth in his community. Dr. Kim Baxter is being recognized by the TeamMates Mentoring Program as the National Mentoring Month “Mentor of the Month.” For over 20 years, Dr. Baxter has mentored students in the program and helped them to see their potential.
Every year the TeamMates Mentoring Program recognizes mentors that go above and beyond for their community. Baxter has served on the state and local board of TeamMates and has been a key part of the North Platte chapter and their successes. Baxter also spends time recruiting mentors to be apart of the program.
Baxter said, “I love being around young people, I love seeing them grow and develop and realize their own gifts and how they can use those to enhance their lives.”
He believes the impact that a mentor has on a child is one that they can take with them forever.
